Didn’t have to go to Dartford to see this Warbler…………
It’s always a lucky day if you get to see one of these little birds, slightly larger than a blue tit the Dartford Warbler is a little bird with a lot of song.
It was so great to see these guys as last year they had their home decimated by fire and while a great part of the habitat they call home was destroyed they have managed to survive.
Hide and seek ……
You tend to hear them before you see them, they make full use of the thick cover, teasing you by landing right next to you but out of sight.
Sing big………..
When they do break cover the male will sit on top of a bush and sing his heart out, spending time sitting watching and listening is a real joy.
For such a small bird it can really seem to change its shape, from short and fat looking to really tall and slim, and well who wouldn’t love that grumpy looking face head on. Our nature is so precious I hope you get out to see some of these amazing sights and sounds soon.
